Rapid Growth

Some rivers carry you forward even when you are the one standing still.

Made in late June 2025, Adam's first summer back in Idaho after several years in California reconnecting with family, this photograph returns to the Boise River and its Greenbelt, the long corridor of trail and water that runs through and connects the city. It is where Adam once built his own fitness and health, and where his family has repeatedly found peace, movement, and beauty.

Adam first came to Idaho in 2006 and grew a lasting connection to its quiet, its nature, its seasons, and its sense of community. The years away brought real growth of their own: time with extended family, a childhood place shared with his own wife and children, and a clearer view of how much a community can change, when everyday, shared spaces give way to something overly singular. In this case, what was once an amazing well rounded and diverse experience, became an oversaturation of art galleries, converted from spaces that used to mean something to the local population. Each already works of art in their own way.  What we all hope for, in any community, is balance: room enough for everyone, such as galleries alongside the bookstores, toy stores, and gathering places and parks that let families and neighbors build a life together. 

He left still healing. He came back to the river stronger, more settled, and ready to keep growing.
